With a masterful fingerpicking style and a storyteller’s heart, Scott Kirby has spent over three decades crafting songs that blend Americana, beach folk, and blues-rock influences. A seasoned performer and prolific songwriter, Scott’s music reflects his lifelong passions for sailing, storytelling, and genuine connection with audiences across the country.
– Author of ten albums including Too Damn Yankee, Row Me Home (produced by Russ Kunkel with Leland Sklar & Dean Parks), Sol Searching, Chasing Hemingway’s Ghost, and Dream of Your Life.
– His ballad “Lucky Enough” became a Sirius/XM Margaritaville staple, boosting nationwide recognition.
– Co-founded Key West’s Smokin’ Tuna Saloon and helped launch the Key West Songwriters Festival—now among the largest of its kind
Originally from Penacook, New Hampshire, Scott Kirby discovered his dual passions for music and sailing around age 10. After earning an English degree from Ohio State University, he immersed himself in New Orleans street performance in the late 1980s—recording the complete rags of Scott Joplin and making his debut at major ragtime festivals across the U.S. and Europe
Kirby is a self-taught finger‑style guitarist and expressive vocalist rooted in the ‘70s singer-songwriter tradition, inspired early on by The Beatles, James Taylor, Tom Rush, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Stevie Wonder. Writing with authenticity and wit, his music spans “beach folk,” Americana, blues-rock, and coastal storytelling
– Performs over 200 shows annually across the U.S. and Canada—venues range from House of Blues and Hard Rock Café to intimate supper clubs and street corners in Nashville and New York.
– Shared stages and festivals with iconic artists such as Carole King, Jimmy Buffett, Mac McAnally, Tom Rush, Darius Rucker, Livingston Taylor, and others
A lifelong sailor from a Newfoundland‑descended family, Kirby splits his time between Key West, Maine, and sometimes southern France or Montana. Offstage, he enjoys community involvement—teaching, songwriting mentorship, and nurturing a rich musical life
